The dhwarves of today are known as the Peristi and live nomadic lives. Peristi avoid settling down and prefer an itinerant lifesysle moving from town to town along the north face of the Dyafice. Across the two kingdoms they are are still in demand, woring the many mines of the north face and many provinces depend on their masonry for fortifications, aqueducts, bridges and roads.

The Peristi predeliction for mobility harkens back to the last days of the Ancient Regime. Dhwarven lore tells of a past castrophe brought about by the insanity of an elven ruler who tried to draw down the divine into this world. In those days, the Peristi maintained strong ties with elvenfolk but now approach them and the crafts with trepidation and disdain.

Persisti argue that the problem with elves is not only their vanity but also their approach to politics and government. Ask a Peristi what she thinks of elves today, and your response, after rolling the eyes would be `if tedious mind-numbing routine is too daring for ya, then go work with the elves.' But on a serious note, Peristi believe it was the elvish tendency to overthink things that blinded them to the madness of their own rulers. To this day, the Persiti believe they are the antithesis to this and are highly suspsicious of hierarchical organisations, elvish or not.

Peristi have abandoned their former gods and now leave these debates to men and elves. But their songs and bardic tales are second to none and few festivals across the two kingdoms would be complete without the performances of a Peristi troupe.

Appearance

The majority of Persisti have an olive complexion and dark brown eyes. The men prefer moustaches and goatees to full beards, wear a wide array of felt hats, prefer vests of striking knitted patterns and fur coats. Persisti women prefer long flowing skirts with vivid patterns, ruffled into many layers combined with white shirts and jackets. Known for their beautiful jewellery, the women are adorned in necklaces and large earrings and tend to ear their out in flowing dark curls.

= Note for Players =

For inspiration players are to look toward Romani culture of eastern culture and the traditional ways of Gypsie folk arcoss Europe in planning a player character and in imagining interactions with Peristi non-player characters. Persisti women do not have beards.
